Spirit players and Lions Club members promoting Sunday afternoon’s winter clothing drive, which will be held at both Stouffville arena complexes.

The Stouffville Spirit is on the hunt for wins on the ice and in the community.

This Sunday (Nov. 20) afternoon from noon to 4 p.m., Spirit players will be at the Stouffville Arena and the Stouffville Clippers Sports Complex collecting winter clothing for the 2nd annual Coats for Kids drive.

All gently used or new winter wear is welcome in all sizes: adults, kids or infants. Coats, boots, snow pants, tuques, gloves and scarves are needed.

The first 200 donors will receive a gift from the Spirit players.

“We’re so proud to be working with our hard-working friends at the Lions Club of Stouffville on this project again,” said Spirit Governor and General Manager Kenny Burrows. “We had such an amazing response from our community last fall. We’re hoping for similar results tomorrow.”

Area residents in need can pick up collected items free of charge at the regional centre at 1145 Nicholson Road, Unit 1, in Newmarket.

For Stouffville residents in need of a ride to pick up donated items, Stouffville Honda is providing a shuttle to get you there. Email the Stouffville Lions at stouffvillelions@gmail.com to make arrangements.

Captain Odaro Ewere leads the Spirit in scoring with 33 points (9G/24A). Linemate Peter Kioussis is next with 30 (14G/16A).

Rookie Ryan Harvey leads all defencemen with 17 points (5G/12A). The Stouffville resident is a graduate of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Minor Hockey Association and Ajax Pickering Raiders AAA program. He has two game-winning goals. Ewere has three.
