Roger Davidson and the rest of the Stouffville Lions want Spirit fans to bring pop tabs, milk bags, eye glasses, empty prescription pill bottles and cell phones you no longer use to this week’s game on Oct. 27. The service club will reuse or recycle donated items.
No one said it would be easy.
The Stouffville Spirit is in a stretch of games that features teams in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s weekly Top 20 rankings.
The youthful Spirit squad split its game last week, defeating the Oakville Blades 5-3 on Thursday and losing 7-2 to the 17th-ranked Burlington Cougars Saturday.
The Spirit is home to the No. 7 Collingwood Blues Thursday. They’re in Aurora Saturday before visiting the CJHL’s second-ranked Milton Menace Sunday.
Milton and Collingwood have been ranked No. 1 this fall.
The Spirit is 7-6-1-2 and tied with Aurora for fifth place in the 10-team North-West Conference of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.
In the win over Oakville, linemates Peter Kioussis and Michael Di Santo each had two goals. Defenceman Ryan Harvey had the other goal. Kioussis and Harvey added two assists each. Captain Odaro Ewere had three assists.
Player of the Game Nicolas Morvan took over the net in the third period and shut out the Blades.
Versus surging Burlington, Di Santo and Zach Benayon scored.

TRANSACTIONS
The Spirit acquired defenceman Charlie Vanhaverbeke from the Cobourg Cougars for a player development fee Wednesday. The 17-year-old from Newcastle was pointless in four games this season.
On the same day, the Spirit released defencemen Hunter Martell and Cole Douglas and forward Ethan Yantha. Martell had one assist in 12 games and Yantha a goal and assist in six games. Both are rookies. Acquired from Powassan of the NOJHL in the Ryan O’Dell deal on Oct. 13, Douglas did not play a game in Spiritville.
