2023 Raiders Golf Tournament
Date: Jun 12, 2023
The reigning Ontario Junior Hockey League Humanitarian of the Year was one of 73 residents of Burlington presented with MP Karina Gould’s Jubilee Community Hero Award last week.
Goaltender Mikael Kingo, 18, of the OJHL’s Georgetown Raiders was honoured for his work in and out of the hockey arena:
“Mikael is a young leader, actively supporting the hockey community. He raises funds and supports hockey players with new equipment, events with NHL players, scholarships and mentorship opportunities. He also volunteers at local hospitals and collects donation items for patients. He is a true role model in our community.”
Each award winner was presented with a certificate and a commemorative pin featuring the Royal Crown and the Royal Cypher (EIIR) as personal symbols representing the Queen.
The winners were nominated by members of the community for their exceptional contribution locally, nationally or internationally and the meaningful impact of their work or volunteerism.
“Burlington is full of generous, innovative, dedicated and passionate individuals – accomplishing small and large feats, locally, nationally and globally. The Platinum Jubilee was an opportunity to recognize these accomplishments and contributions. The recipients of this award were nominated because they are someone’s community hero, they have made a difference in the community and that deserved to be recognized. From volunteer work to business success, sport to the arts, the environment to healthcare, the award winners all served the community and the country for the better,” said Gould.
