Rain, Fog Doesn't Stop Jackals Offense

Little Falls, NJ -- On a cold, gloomy, and rainy night at Yogi Berra Stadium the Jackals faced off against the Empire State Greys in the second game of this three game series. The first game of the series probably brought about the most unique circumstances that both teams have played in so far this season-- the game started at 9:05 PM because of two consecutive rain delays. This game was also delayed, but only for 20 minutes as the Jackals looked to take another game away from the Greys. An Empire State loss would push their record-setting losing streak to 33 consecutive games to start this season.

The Jackals continued to shine offensively, despite the rainy conditions, scoring in every single inning of this game, which hasn’t happened all season. Todd Isaccs, who was back in the leadoff spot, went 2 for 3 in the game including a homerun that soared out of Yogi Berra Stadium. That was Isaacs’ seventh home run on the year and was his second day in a row with a home run. He also extended his hitting streak to 13 games which is a Jackals season high.  Another player that continued to shine for the Jackals was Jorge Tavares. Tavares gave up only one run on four hits with 8 strikeouts in another great outing for the Jackals. He was a trooper today going through the entire game and also sitting out during the delay and continuing to dominate the Grey’s lineup.

The rain, mist, and fog quickly disoriented the players in the middle innings and at 8:30, the game was placed in a fog delay. The game did not resume until about 9:30. The rain however came back, and with greater intensity. The game was eventually called due to the rain after 4 ½ innings which just makes it an official game. The Jackals defeated the Greys 7-1 and they will be back at it tomorrow for the finale of this three game set at Yogi Berra Stadium at 7:05pm. Tickets are available at Jackals.com or at the box office.
