The Cobourg Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) are pleased to announce that Josh Maguire is the new Director of Development for the Cougars. Josh was on the Coaching bench as Assistant Coach for the 2021-22 season in which the Cougars won the East division league championship.

Josh’s new role will encompass working with players both on and off the ice, while also assisting in scouting for future Cobourg Cougars players. No stranger to the Cougars Josh is a very well-known alumni having captained the team to the 2017 RBC Cup Championship. After that he attended the University of Ontario Institute of Technology playing for the Ridgebacks Men’s Hockey USports until 2020.

“Josh has been an integral part of our team over the last year and before as a player/alumni. Player development is a key aspect to our culture here at the Cougars and as we have always highlighted, we are commitment to have our players move on to higher levels of hockey through our club” said Bob Breckles Executive Sr. VP of Hockey Operations. “Creating this role and having Josh focusing on this is key to supporting our players, ensuring success on the ice while here with Cobourg and bridging the link to the next level”.

“I am excited for this new role within the Cobourg Cougars organization and an opportunity to work with these young men on not only their hockey skill sets, but also help them develop into strong leaders and members of their community that can carry with them through their hockey endeavours,” said Josh Maguire.
