CORALVILLE, Iowa – Brody Brenczewski gets it done, on and off the ice, at the University of Iowa.

A senior forward, the Chicago-area native also serves the hockey team’s vice president while majoring in Finance in the classroom, gearing his studies toward real estate.

Needless to say, Brenczewski is looking forward to the season, especially after Iowa swept Bradley in two straight games last weekend on home ice.

“My favorite part about playing for the Hawkeyes is representing a Big 10 school in my favorite sport,” Brenczewski said. “As VP, my duties are essentially working hand in hand with (president) Matt Wilson to run this organization. I also must act as a leader on and off the ice, which I feel has always come naturally to me.

“A few seasons ago, we won the league going undefeated. I feel I would be letting the team down if I did not expect the same outcome this year. The team is a very different dynamic than a few years ago, but the challenge will make the victories much more rewarding.”

Brenczewski originally played hockey for Providence Catholic in New Lenox, Ill., and for his freshman year of college, went to Grand Valley State.

“After deciding GVSU was not for me, I visited Iowa and stayed with some friends who were on the hockey team a few years ago,” said Brenczewski. “I almost immediately decided to transfer and play hockey for the University of Iowa.”

Down the line, Brenczewski said he plans to use his degree to his advantage.

“I am very up to date in the world of cryptocurrency,” he said. “I plan to continue learning about that and real estate, continue investing, and soon make my first move in real estate.”

Iowa hosts the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh this weekend at Coral Ridge. Game times are 7 p.m. Friday night and 4:30 p.m. Saturday for the finale.
