Pittsburgh, PA -

Duquesne has announced they will field a second ACHA team for the upcoming season at the Division 3 level. The ACHA D3 Dukes will compete in College Hockey East for their inaugural season and play out of Alpha Ice Complex.

Duquesne has named Kyle Clar as the first Head Coach of the program. Clar returns to his alma mater after working for 3 years in Chicago, IL and coaching with the Chicago Jets organization. He played defense for Duquesne's ACHA D1 hockey team from 2013-2017 and was named Alternate Captain his senior year.

Head Coach of the ACHA D1 team Conrad Waite noted that "we are tremendously lucky to have a coach of this caliber lead our D3 team. We initially brought in Kyle to be an ACHA D1 assistant coach last season, and did not have to look too far when our search for a D3 Head Coach began. He embodies the best of our program and is going to be a big part of developing and recruiting future Dukes.”

He will be joined behind the bench by Tyler Perhac. Perhac, who is a Pittsburgh native, graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 2020 and played 4 years as a goaltender for the NCAA D3 Dutchmen. During his time at LVC, Tyler was named to the 2017-18 NCAA III (MAC) Second Team All-Conference.

In addition to assisting with the Division 3 team, Tyler will work with the goaltenders throughout the program. Waite added "we recognize the value in having dedicated coaches available to work 1 on 1 with our goalies. Sean Moloney has been a fantastic part of our team for the past 3 seasons, and he will continue to lead the way as our Goaltending Director. But to have the opportunity to bring in Tyler to help was a no brainer.”

Coach Waite noted that more additions to the coaching staff are in the works and should be announced soon. Duquesne has their ACHA D1 & D3 tryouts scheduled for Aug 23-26.
