The Stallions Hockey Club at WMU is excited to announce another signing for the 2021-2022 season, signing Goaltender Doug Wakelyn from the USPHL’s Pueblo Bulls.

Doug is from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and attended Doherty High School.  He spent time with the P.A.I. Junior Islanders, Louisiana Drillers, and Weyburn Red Wings of the SJHL before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down travel to Canada. However, when one door closes, another one opens, and he found a fit near home with the USPHL Premier Pueblo Bulls. He finished this past season with a .915 save percentage in 25 games, and posted a .947 save percentage in 3 games of playoff action.

Doug is currently undecided on a major but is excited to begin his college hockey journey in Kalamazoo. “Doug is a big pickup for us”, Head Coach Andy Reynolds said. “He has the ability to control the game by making timely saves. He plays well in games where he gets a lot of work, and will fit right in with the culture we are trying to build”.
