NBHL team?

Dallas-Forth Worth Marksmen, we are a brand new team but have experienced players Philly, Long Island, New Jersey, Pittsburgh.  We also have several Dallas natives that have gotten into ball hockey over the past year and a half since we have gotten organized.   We are excited in to partner with Texas Ball Hockey in Austin and Red River Hockey Club in Shreveport, LA to participate in the inaugural season of the NBHL.

Ball hockey background?

I’m an old timer, I started playing organized Dek Hockey in 1990 in Pittsburgh at South Park Dek Hockey after playing street hockey in the neighborhood. I played and traveled to tournaments as a Cadet and Freshman in the 90’s and played on several men’s teams (Wizards, Black Jacks, Wu-Tang, Greater Pittsburgh Dek Hockey to name a few) to represented Pittsburgh at various tournaments over the years. I relocated to Tampa, FL in 2007 and played at All Sports Arena which hosted several tournaments as well as continued to travel to the North East to play events.  In 2017 I relocated to Dallas and we have worked hard here to promote and grow the game.  I have represented USA in the World Championships 4 times as part of the Masters program, with a 2 Bronze medals to show for it.  I have played with the Pittsburgh Gods since 2017, winning 6 major tournaments in that time.

Expectations for NBHL?

In Dallas and in this part of the country we are focused on growing the game as we need more players to organize a league.  Texas Ball Hockey in Austin and Red River Hockey Club in Shreveport have been around longer and has a more established program, so we are excited to partnerand working closely with them to grow the game and on the Texas division of the NBHL in 2021.

In Dallas, with the formation of the DFW Marksmen we are focusing on building a ball hockey team to represent Dallas on the Tournament circuit.  We are building a great atmosphere and competitive team, something for players in Dallas to strive for.

We are having a Clash of the Texans 2 on December 12 in Dallas, a continuation of the 2 games played in Austin vs Texas Ball Hockey back in February, in which each City won a game.  Shreveport will be joining us for this event, so we are very excited to have a 3 team mini tournament.  We expect this event to generate a lot of momentum for the 2021 NBHL season.

Favorite ball hockey memory?

I’ve been playing for 30 years have so many great memories, some fade over time but all my favorite memories from ball hockey involved winning a championship.  Recently - Being part of 4 tournament wins with the Gods in 2019, with 3 over them coming in OT was amazing and is why I continue to strive to play to game a high level at 44.  I’m most looking forward to what is ahead in growing the game in Texas and beyond, and to support getting this great sport in a better place that when I started playing 30 years ago for future generations.
