The Wellington Dukes have long been associated with winning hockey games in the OJHL and CJHL ranks, and they are hoping that adding a player from one of the top Junior C teams in the province will help keep that success going; signing 2002 born forward Marshall McFarland.

McFarland, a native of Napanee, Ontario played last season with the Napanee Raiders, as well as dressing as an AP for the Dukes. In 36 games with the Raiders, McFarland put up an impressive 26 points (16 goals, 10 assists) on a very strong and veteran led team.

Previously, McFarland was a part of the local Quinte Red Devils AAA program, something that Dukes GM Todd Reid recognized when speaking about the signing of McFarland. "Marshall played Quinte Major Midget AAA two years ago and then made the jump to Napanee last year and was very productive on an experienced team. He understands that his hockey career is a marathon and not a sprint. He can play in all areas of the ice and makes his teammates better."

McFarland is excited to get the season started and making the jump to the Junior A ranks with the Dukes "I'm excited to play here because the Dukes are one of the top organizations for developing players in the CJHL. Getting the chance to play with some old teammates from minor hockey also was a big bonus in joining the Dukes."
