One of the newest members of the Wellington Dukes has decided to go the NCAA route for his development and has committed to Quinnipiac University located in Hamden, Connecticut.

Aaron Brown, a native of Belleville, Ontario, signed with the Dukes back in June and both GM Todd Reid and Head Coach Derek Smith raved about his potential after spending his Minor Midget season as part of the OMHA Champion Quinte Red Devils. Brown drew a lot of attention from OHL and NCAA scouts which led to being drafted in the 3rd round, 52nd overall by the Flint Firebirds in the OHL Priority Draft. Brown came to the Dukes hoping to land a scholarship south of the border in the NCAA and is thrilled to be joining the Quinnipiac program.

"It's an incredible hockey program as well as a great academic program. All the coaches and staff are the best and they really made me feel like I belonged there when speaking with them. It will be an awesome place to pursue academics as well as chasing my dream to become a professional hockey player. It is a dream come true being able to play Division 1 hockey at such an amazing school.

Dukes Head Coach Derek Smith was very happy to announce to the news of Brown committing to such a great program in Quinnipiac. "We are extremely proud of Aaron for his commitment to Quinnipiac University. Over the past couple of season, his development and rate of progression has been tremendous. The time and work he has put in on and off the ice shows in his commitment to QU. He is a great young player and young man and we are excited to have him in a Dukes uniform and help support him on his journey".

The Quinnipiac Bobcats are part of the NCAA's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
