Hitter of the Day

On June 10, 2016, Winchester's Gabriel Garcia went 3-4 against Covington, with a run scored, double, home run, and four RBIs in the 9-6 win. From Broward, Garcia hit .288/.368/.470 in 66 at-bats for the Royals, with 12 runs scored, three doubles, three home runs, and 12 stolen bases. After transferring to Florida International, Garcia was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2016 (14th round), and played four years in the minor leagues. He batted a total of .238/.354/.402 in 967 total pro at-bats.

Pitcher of the Day

On June 10, 2014, Strasburg's Thomas Durkin threw seven shutout innings against Woodstock, while allowing only three hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts. That summer, he went 3-2, 4.19, with 28 K's in 34 1/3 innings pitched. He threw a shutout inning in the All-Star game, and made one solid start in the 2014 playoffs. Durkin pitched for Coastal Carolina for two years, but only saw 23 innings on the mound in that time. He did not play pro ball.
