At Hockey Canada meetings in Montreal last weekend, the body approved a change in naming convention proposed by the board of directors.
The age divisions will become U7, U9, U11 through to U21, impacting all minor and female hockey programs under the Hockey Canada umbrella.
The new divisions are as follows:
YEAR OF BIRTH *AGE ON DEC. 31 * AGE DIVISION
Under-7 (U7) Timbits
7-8 Under-9 (U9)
9-10 Under-11 (U11)
11-12 Under-13 (U13)
13-14 Under-15 (U15)
15-16-17 Under-18 (U18)
18-19-20 Under-21 (U21)
The age designation takes effect for the 2020-2021 season.
