The Western Michigan University Stallions Hockey Club is proud to announce their first commitment to the 2020-2021 roster, signing forward Hayden Watzka as the first member of their recruiting class.

Watzka, from Pensacola, Florida, joins the Stallions after spending the last season with the Louisiana Drillers in the NA3HL. With the help of his supportive family, Watzka has been playing hockey since he was four years old.

Watzka’s best hockey memory is being able to move away from home to play hockey for the Drillers. 10 years from now, Watzka sees himself returning to his hometown to play for the SPHL Pensacola Flyers after obtaining his degree from Western Michigan University.

“I think Western is the best fit for me academically and to continue my hockey career. While at Western I hope to achieve good grades and a conference championship,” said Watzka when asked about attending WMU.

Outside of the rink, Watzka enjoys gambling and traveling to new places.
