The CHMA Stars of the Week for February 21st-23rd are Indiana University of PA’s Tyler Speis, University of Pittsburgh’s Ben Leslie, and Duquesne University’s Alex Neverve. 

 

 

Tyler Speis - F - Indiana University of PA

2 Games - 3 Goals - 0 Assists - 3 Points

 

Senior Forward Tyler Speis capped off IUP’s Senior Night with a Hat Trick, leading the Crimson Hawks to a 7-3 win over Toledo. Speis performance propelled IUP to a weekend sweep of the Rockets, after a 6-2 victory Friday night. IUP opens up the CHMA Playoffs Friday night at 6pm vs Duquesne University.

 

 

Ben Leslie - F - University of Pittsburgh

2 Games - 3 Goals - 0 Assists - 3 Points

 

Pitt freshman Ben Leslie scored 3 goals in a weekend matchup at Ohio University. He found the back of the net twice Friday night, as the Panthers pushed the 6th ranked Bobcats to the brink, before falling 7-5. He then scored the lone goal Saturday in a 4-1 loss. The Panthers have a bye through the first round of the CHMA Playoffs, and await the top seed winner from Friday. 

 

 

Alex Neverve - G - Duquesne University 

1 Game - 4-0 win - 39 save shutout

 

Freshman Alex Neverve led the Dukes to a 4-0 road victory over Kent State University Saturday night. The goaltender turned away all 39 shots from the Golden Flashes, securing the first shutout of his collegiate career. He’ll lead the Dukes into a first round CHMA playoff matchup vs IUP Friday night at 6pm at Alpha Ice Complex.
