The Mayhem have signed forward Bobby Sokol to their roster.
Sokol was signed to the Mayhem training camp roster following their championship season in September of 2017. Though he did not make the team at the time, he made an impression on Macon’s coaching staff and stayed in touch with the organization. He and Mayhem Head Coach Ryan Michel played two seasons together at Hobart College (NCAA DIII) from 2013-15, and the Belle Vernon, PA native has played professionally since graduating in 2017.
“We are very excited to bring in Bobby and to give him an opportunity at our level,” Michel said. “He has been a catalyst in Port Huron and is deserving of this chance.”
The 27-year-old forward joined EC Lauterbach in Germany’s fourth league after being cut from Macon’s training camp roster in 2017. He split time last season between three pro teams in France and Germany, and returned to the United States to resume his pro career this season. In just seven games with the Federal Prospect League’s Port Huron Prowlers, Sokol has amassed an impressive 13 points (6G, 7A). Thus, it did not take long for his former college teammate to extend him an offer.
Sokol will sport the #14 and is expected to line up predominantly on the right wing. He will make his Mayhem debut this Thursday morning in Fayetteville in a 10 a.m. clash with the Marksmen, which will be followed by back-to-back home games at the Macon Centreplex. Friday is Macon Mistakes Night against Fayetteville, and Saturday is Pucks N’ Paws against the Birmingham Bulls. For tickets, click here.
