The Lions came into the weekend on a high note after beating Rutgers the previous Sunday in thrilling game that went to a shootout. On Friday they played the University of Maryland in a tough non-league game. TCNJ would come out with instant pressure and would get an early power play that they would make quick work of, Travis Beni would collect a loose puck and feed Dan Martin (7th) who walked down the slot and put one high glove side for the early lead. Eight minutes later the Lions would strike again when Patrick Coyle (2nd) scored on a nice move in front, Larry Kruglyak and Patrick Willever had the helpers. The Lions would take a two goal lead into the second period with the Terps leading 13-8 in shots.

Both teams would exchange chances in the second period but Dan Martin (8th) would pot his second of the game when he finished off a great passing play with Matt Lojewski and Ryan Anderson to give the Lions a three goal lead. Maryland would answer four minutes later when Evan Yamaguchi would score off a turnover but the Lions would get it back when Kris Hastings picked up his 17th goal of the season, Anthony DeAlto and Andrew Lem got the assists and they would take the three goal lead into the third.

The third period was mostly uneventful until the last five minutes when it looked as though freshman Glenn Puzo scored his first college goal but it was waved off when the refs ruled the net was knocked off by a Lion. TCNJ would finish out the game and win 4-1 to improve their overall record to 13-8-0-1, goalie Mike Lojewski was very good again turning aside 30 shots to improve his personal record to 8-7 on the season.

On Sunday the team traveled to Scranton to take on the Royals in a big Colonial league game with both teams looking to earn an edge on the first round bye. The Royals came out with the early pressure but Mike Lojewski would stand tall and much like Friday night the Lions would score first when captain Marc Tietjen (5th) would snipe one glove side on the power play, Travis Beni and Dan Martin had the assists. Scranton would answer with just over a minute left in the period when John Forlenza would put home a loose rebound to tie the game at one and that is how the period would end.

Scranton would turn up the pressure in the second period but much like the first period Lojewski was equal to the task, making numerous big time stops and dealing with a ton of traffic in and around the crease. Late in the period the Lions would push back and retake the lead when Andrew Lem picked off a pass in the neutral zone to start an odd-man rush and Kris Hastings would feed Anthony DeAlto for a tap in for his 10th goal of the season. The Lions would take the one goal lead into the third with Scranton leading in shots 30-27.

The Royals would pickup a penalty with six seconds remaining in the second giving the Lions a power play to start the third period and then pickup another penalty in the first minute of the third giving the Lions an early two man advantage. Marc Tietjen would made them pay yet again when he backhanded a shot through Dylan Euvino for his sixth goal and giving he lions the all important two goal lead, DeAlto and Martin had the helpers. TCNJ would play a smart two way game to bleed away the clock and then the team defense along with Mike Lojewski would shut the door to secure the huge win to improve their league record to 12-1-1 good for 25pts to remain in second place. Lojewski was a beast in net stopping 44 of the 45 shots he faced and improved his record to 9-7.
