JR. CANADIENS TVERBERG COMMITS TO HARVARD

Ryan Tverberg of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens (photo credit – Andy Corneau / OJHL Images) has committed to the NCAA Division 1 Harvard University Crimson in Cambridge, MA for the 2021-22 season.

The resident of Richmond Hill is having an accolade-loaded season:

• In his first full season with the Canadiens, Tverberg has 38 points (20 goals/18 assists) in 31 games. Last year, he played nine games with the OJHL team as an affiliate from the Canadiens midgets.

• Tverberg scored a goal to help Team Devin Shore win the Prospects Game during the OJHL All-Star Celebration in Oakville Nov. 30.

• He has remained on NHL Central Scouting’s Watch List throughout the first half of the season in anticipation of the June draft in Montreal.

• Tverberg was a member of Team Canada East, which won silver medals at the World Jr. A Challenge in British Columbia Dec. 15.

• He was selected to play in next month’s CJHL Prospects Game in Hamilton Jan. 14.

Now 17, he was a 12th-round pick of the Hamilton Bulldogs in the 2018 Ontario Hockey League draft.

The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, had more than 125 NCAA, U Sports, CHL and professional commitments in 2018-19 – including 65 NCAA Division I scholarships.
