GIANNINI SCORES WARRIOR NORTH-WEST CONFERENCE PLAYER-OF-MONTH AWARD

December 9, 2019, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Matthew Giannini (Photo by Spencer Smye / OJHL Images) of the Burlington Cougars has been named the Warrior North-West Conference Player-of-the-Month for November after he tallied 15 points during 10 games. His league-leading 10 goals included two on the power play and two game-winners. He was assessed one minor penalty during the month.

In his first season with the Cougars the 19-year-old from Stoney Creek has amassed 18 goals and 22 assists during 30 regular season games. He had 30 points during 50 points with the OJHL’s Brantford 99ers last year.

Giannini played minor hockey for the Hamilton Huskies and Jr. Bulldogs AAA program before suiting up for the Jr. B Welland Canadians during the 2017-18 season.

He was a first-round pick by the Erie Otters in the 2017 Ontario Hockey League U18 draft.

 

Patrick Brown of the Collingood Colts was runner-up to Giannini as the North-West Conference Player-of-the-Month. The Orillia native had eight goals and seven assists in nine November games. Brown, 19, played for the North Bay Battalion in the OHL the past two seasons.
