The West Virginia Miners announced on November 5 that Carson Newman University shortstop Micah Genter has been added to the Miners' roster for the 2020 Prospect League season.

The 5-8, 165-pound Genter will join the Miners following his junior season in the spring of 2020 at Carson Newman (Jefferson City, TN), a member of the NCAA D-II South Atlantic Conference.

His sophomore year in 2019 at CNU saw the right-handed hitting Genter playing in 49 games (all starts) and hitting a solid .268 (40-149) for the Eagles with 11 doubles, 1 triple, 19 walks, and scoring 30 runs while driving home 23 additional runners.  He also stole 7 bases in 12 attempts.
His freshman season in 2018 at Carson Newman saw him quickly adapt to the collegiate level by appearing in 47 games (44 starts) and hit .230 (31-for-135). His offensive stat line for that campaign included 6 doubles, 1 triple, 23 RBI, and 23 runs scored. He was an immediate success on the basepaths throughout his college debut season by swiping 8 bases in 10 attempts.

The Jasper, TN resident's first two seasons as a collegian proved him to be a tough man to strike out at the plate as he fanned only 26 times in an overall 284 at-bats (9 percent).
He is a 2017 graduate of South Pittsburg High School in South Pittsburg, TN.
