Men’s U19 Field Lacrosse Evaluation Camp Begins

Date:  Source: Canadian Lacrosse Association

This weekend, 73 of Canada’s top U19 men’s field lacrosse players will be attending the first evaluation camp in Oshawa, ON. These athletes are looking to play for Team Canada at the 2020 World Lacrosse Men’s Field U19 World Championship in Limerick, Ireland.

The evaluation camp begins with an evening practice on Friday Oct. 25 at the Oshawa Civic Recreation Complex. There is a morning practice on Saturday Oct. 26, followed by two scrimmages in the afternoon, and a final practice on Sunday.

"Anytime we come together as Team Canada, whether at an evaluation camp, training camp or international tournament, putting on and representing the Maple Leaf is of the highest honor and privilege both as coaches, players and staff,” said Matt Brown, head coach of the Canadian Men’s U19 Field Lacrosse Team.

It is guaranteed to be an exciting weekend for these players, who will be coming from across Canada.  Six provinces have talented young players attending the evaluation camp. A full list of athletes invited to the evaluation camp can be found here.

"We have great mixed of players with different skill sets trying out this weekend. To have a well-balanced team, we need to have a great mix of personalities, both on and off the field,” said Brown. “So, I will be looking forward to learning about all these players in these regards and will be encouraging them to put their best foot forward and be themselves as players and people this weekend.”

Best of luck to all of the athletes.
