Date: Jul 7, 2025
On Friday night the Lions took on the Seton Hall Pirates in the semifinals of the Lawrenceville Showcase but it was also a Colonial League game, which TCNJ looked to remain perfect in. The Lions got off to a hot start as they controlled the play in the first period and Jameson Dugan would give them a one goal lead after first while outshooting the Pirates 21-7. The second period was a lot like the first period and TCNJ would pull away with goals from Dan Martin, Marc Tietjen, JP Kelly and Travis Beni as they took a 5-0 lead into the third period. The Pirates would push back in the third period with a couple goals but again the Lions would pull away for good with goals from Kris Hastings, Andrew Summa and JP Kelly would net two more to complete the hat trick as the Lions finished the game with a 9-2 win. Mike Lojewski stopped 20 of the 22 shots he faced for his second win of the season, Travis Beni added 3 assists to go along with his goal to give him a four point game.
On Saturday TCNJ looked to win it's second straight Lawrenceville Showcase championship against Rider, last year the Lions beat the Broncs 5-4. The first period was fast paced with chances at both ends but neither team would score while Rider had the edge in shots 12-7. The second period was a lot like the first period but although the Lions have territorial edge while outshooting Rider 10-8 in the period neither team would score in the period. Rider turned up the pressure in the third period and would break the tie halfway through the period when a point shot made it through a maze of players and into the top of the net. The Broncs would seal the game with under four minutes remaining when a bouncing puck fell behind goalie Mike Lojewski, Lojewski had an incredible game stopping 43 of 45 shots in the 2-0 loss.
Sunday afternoon the Princeton Tigers came to Lawrenceville and the Lions were looking to win their fourth Colonial league in as many tries and get back over .500 for the season. Although the Tigers were shorthanded they gave the Lions everything they had and would score the games first goal but junior Kevin Broskie would knot the game at one when he finished a loose puck at the crease. Logan Viducic would score off of a faceoff with just under a minute left to give us a 2-1 lead at end of the first period. The Tigers would tie the game up halfway through the second period but we would go back ahead when Anthony DeAlto scored on a rebound giving the Lions a one goal lead into the intermission. TCNJ would pull away in the third period as the Lions got goals Anthony DeAlto (his second), Sean Leonard, Kevin Broskie(his second) and two more from Kris Hastings to finish off the game 8-2. Goalie Nick Pontoriero stopped 21 shots for his third win of the season.
