Former New Tecumseth Civics players Lev Mikheev and Ivan Subbotin have signed in the MHL which is the Major Junior Hockey League in Russia.

Mikheev (2000) has signed with the Taifun Primorsky Krai and has already appeared in 8 games this season with 4 PIM in his stat line.

While with the Civics the 6 foot defenseman played in 69 games over the past 2 seasons scoring 12 Points (4G, 8A) in that span and developing under head coach Dennis Martindale.

Mikheev, born in Moskva, joined the Civics as a product of the Orbita Zelenograd U18 program playing his minor hockey in his native Russia.

Also heading to the MHL but with another club is former Civics forward Ivan Subbotin, who has been signed by MHK Spartak Moskva.

Subbotin played for the Civics during the 2017-2018 season where he put up 5 points (3G, 2A) in 31 games.

Returning to the team in 2018-2019 Subbotin found himself playing behind some talented forwards in New Tecumseth and was given more of an opportunity after a change of scenery to Tillsonburg where he put up more than a point per game with 18 points (11G, 7A) in 16 games, he rounded out the season with the Windsor Aces where he had 7 points in the final 5 games and added a point per game in 3 playoff games.

Subbotin joined the Civics from his youth team Sibir Novosibirsk U16 located in Subbotins home of Novosibirsk.

The MHL is the top junior league in Russia and the only Major Junior League of its kind, many players go on to play professionally in the VHL and the KHL and the MHL has some serious alumni in the NHL including MVP award winner Nikita Kucherov, Stanley Cup winner Vlad Tarasenko and recently signed Devils Forward (and 2 time MHL playoff MVP) Nikita Gusev. The Civics are proud to see two former players moving on to the league and representing Civic Nation so well.
