Andre Darlow has stepped down as head coach of the Stouffvills Spirit.

Kenny Burrows, general manager and co-owner of the Ontario Junior Hockey League team, made the announcement Saturday.

Burrows said Darlow cited work and family commitments.

"We'd like to sincerely thank Andre," Burrows said. "He did a tremendous amount of work for us this spring and summer and our team is better off because of him."

Assistant coaches Brandon Kearnan and Andrew Campoli have been promoted to co-coaches, Burrows said.

The Spirit opens the OJHL regular season with two games next weekend.
