We might as well start calling the Victoria Shamrocks the Cardiac Kids because all they do is come back in lax games. On Friday night, the Rocks defeated the Maple Ridge 12-11 in overtime of Game 4 of the 2019 WLA Finals. With the win, Victoria now holds a 3-1 series lead as they host Game 5 of the series Sunday night at The Q Centre.

Maple Ridge had a 4-3 lead after the first period and was ahead 8-5 going into the third. However, they were outscored 4-1 in the last twenty minutes to send the game to overtime. Each team got two goals in the 10-minute frame, including Wes Berg scoring with a minute to go, but it was Victoria’s Tyler Pace who popped in the game-winner as the clock hit zero.

The Burrards got goals from just three separate players with Dane Dobbie leading the way, netting five goals with a second-period hat trick. Wes Berg and Mike Mallory each had a hat trick for Maple Ridge as the Burrards went 4 for 8 on the powerplay on 64 total shots. Frank Scigliano made 36 saves in the losing effort, and it’s the first time that Sciggs has given up ten goals or more in back to back games this season.

On the other side, Tyler Pace led the Rocks in goals with four on the night, including his OT winner. He finished the night with five points, his best performance of the postseason since Game 3 against Nanaimo last round. Outside of Pace, Chris Boushy and Jesse King each had five points, combining for four goals and six assists. In net, Pete Dubenski made 53 saves, and every one of them was needed as he now has a 7.40 GAA in the postseason.
