NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) is pleased to unveil the members of the 2019 All-NECBL First and Second Teams, as announced by Commissioner Sean McGrath on Monday.
Comprised of a position player at each spot on the diamond, a designated hitter, three starting pitchers, three relievers and a closer on each side, the league honored 32 student-athletes on their outstanding summers in the New England League.
Twelve of the league’s 13 teams were represented on the All-NECBL Teams, with the Mystic Schooners leading all organizations with five selections thanks to three first-team honorees and a pair of second-team picks. Their three first team selections were tied with the Upper Valley Nighthawks for the most by a single NECBL organization this summer.
The 2019 league champion Keene Swamp Bats joined the Newport Gulls and Vermont Mountaineers with four honorees, followed by the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks, Nighthawks and Valley Blue Sox with three selections apiece.
The North Adams SteepleCats boasted a pair of all-league designees, while the Danbury Westerners, Ocean State Waves, Sanford Mainers and Winnipesaukee Muskrats rounded out the honorees with one all-league selection apiece.
