Harrison Cohen (George Washington) was the key piece on a Westhampton Aviators pitching staff that won a record fourth HCBL championship in 2019. Cohen added to a spectacular summer in the Hamptons by being named as the 2019 HCBL Pitcher of the Year.
Cohen was 4-1 on the season for Westhampton with a 2.00 ERA in 40.1 innings pitched. The Syosset native struck out 45 batters during the regular season while only walking 11. Cohen was recognized for his outstanding efforts during the season being selected to the HCBL All-Star Game in Mid-July.
Cohen was named on all seven HCBL coaches’ ballots with a pair of first place votes, three second place votes and two third place votes. Riverhead’s Bobby Vath (NYIT) who led the league in ERA and strikeouts finished in second place while Westhampton’s Erubiel Candelario (Marist) ended right behind Vath in third place.
Cohen is the second Aviator to be selected as the HCBL Pitcher of the Year. Reiss Knehr (Fordham) took home Pitcher of the Year honors for Westhampton in the Aviators’ third championship season back in 2016.
