Keene, NH- It came down to the last out, but the Waves were able to hold onto the narrowest of leads Saturday night at Alumni Field in Keene, NH, defeating the second place Swamp Bats 6-5.

Ocean State had a steady offensive attack throughout the night, scoring one run in six different innings to lead their offensive attack. In the top of the second, Casey Dana (Montgomery, NY/ Seton Hall) would get things going with a long homerun to left field, his sixth of the season, to give the Waves a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third, Joe Simone (Wayne, NJ/ Rider U) would score on a wild pitch after doubling to right. Xavier Vargas (Woodhaven, NY/ URI) would add the Waves third run in the top of the fifth on an RBI groundout, and would be follow up by a no doubt home run by Dillon Morton (Tampa, FL/ Winthrop) in the top of the sixth to extend the Waves lead to four.

After Keene pushed across their first run in the bottom of the sixth, Elijah Dunham (Evansville, IN/ Indiana U) would connect for his third homerun in the last two games to put the Waves back in front by four. The sixth and final run for the Waves would come around after a fielding error on the Keene second baseman, pushing the lead to 6-1 going into the top of the eighth.

Keene would flex the power in the bottom of the eighth, scoring four runs on a three-run homerun by David Bedgood (Sherman, TX/ Tulane) and a solo shot by Randall Bednar (Bethesda, MD/ Maryland) and getting the Swamp Bats back to within one.

CJ McKennitt (Concord, MA/ Holy Cross) would come on in the ninth and allow the first two baserunners to reach before shutting the door with a fly out and back to back strikeouts, earning his first save of the season. Waves starter Nick Robinson (Hewlett, NY/ URI) went four shut out innings, only allowing two hits while striking out three. Jake Walker (Milton, MA/ URI) picked up the win out of the pen, going two strong innings, giving up one run (none earned) on two hits, walking one and striking out one.

The Waves (14-19) look to keep their winning streak rolling when they head to Newport Monday to take on the Gulls in game six of the Pell Bridge Series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35, and can be heard online via the NECBL Broadcast Network.
