Danbury vs. Keene

Date:  Source: New England Collegiate Baseball League

Danbury – A eight-run fifth inning was the knockout punch for the Westerners as they fell 9-3 to the Keene Swampbats in a seven inning game Saturday afternoon.

The first few innings went by without any offense as Danbury starting pitcher Nick Borek cruised through the first two innings. In the third inning however, left a pitch over the plate and Tommy Joseph sent over the right field fence to give Keene the 1-0 lead after three innings.

After putting up a zero in the fourth inning, Borek would find out why the Swampbats lead the NECBL in home runs. Behind the power of two more home runs and plenty more hard hits, Keene would put up an 8 spot, driving Borek out of the game and putting Danbury in a major hole with time running out.

Danbury would score six times in the bottom of the seventh, but it was not enough to come back. They look to bounce back later tonight when they face off against the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks Saturday night.
