OJHL BUFFALO DEFENCEMAN COMMITS TO DI UNION

Josh Philips of the OJHL’s Buffalo Jr. Sabres (photo credit – Spencer Smye/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA DI Union College Dutchmen in Schenectady, NY beginning with the 2020-21 season.

The 18-year-old from Getzville, NY joined the OJHL Sabres full-time last fall. He had three goals and six assists in 39 games during the 2018-19 season.

The defenceman is a homegrown product of the Jr. Sabres youth hockey program.

OJHL grads on Union’s 2018-19 roster included: Ryan Sidorski (Buffalo), Anthony Rinaldi and Zachary Emelifeonwu (Kingston), Liam Morgan (Trenton), Lucas Breault (St. Michael’s) and Josh Kosack and Greg Campbell (Oakville).

The Ontario Junior Hockey League, the largest Jr. A league in Canada, has had more than 115 NCAA, U Sports, OHL and professional commitments in 2018-19.
