It's now four in a row for the Trappers, who continue to mount wins.

No runs would come home in the first inning, part of four that starter AJ Fell provided Pierre.

However, in the second, the Trappers took the lead. Johnny Pacheco singled to start the frame, and a batter later, Tyler Ranel doubled down the left field line to put the home team on the scoreboard, 1-0.

Then, in the third, after a Michael Herrera double, Nick Altermatt smacked a single to double the lead at 2-0.

Wheat City responded with two in the fourth. Keegan Sueltz singled and scored, and then Jayden Kay walked and came home two batters later when Myles Harris brought home the left fielder. It was 2-2 after four innings.

The Whiskey Jacks weren't done, however, and Kody Kehl scored quickly off a double by Blake Fitzgerald to put Wheat City in command, 3-2.

But Pierre remained unfazed, and tallied two in the bottom of the sixth. Both Niko Piazza and Billy Moreland scored, one via a passed ball, and the Trappers retook the advantage with a 4-3 lead.

Reliever Seth Brewer was terrific. Following the first inning of work in which he gave up a run and loaded the bases, the righty ended his day with 4 1/3 innings pitched, picking up his first win of the season.

The Trappers added she much needed insurance in the bottom of the eighth, as Pacheco led off with a triple. One batter later, it was 5-3 when  Ranel laced a fly ball out to left for the RBI.

Wheat City surged in the top of the final inning when Kehl scored for the second time, and runners on first and second quickly followed. However, Bill Moreland came in to shut the door for his second save of the week and third of the year, and Pierre continued their winning ways with a 5-4 triumph.
