Date:  Source: OJDL - Ontario Junior Development League

Players of Interest is a weekly feature highlighting some of the fine young prospects in the Ontario Junior Development League during the 2019 season

CHRISTIAN CATALANO

Brampton, OJDL

Mississauga Rebels Minor Midget AAA

DOB: 05-23-2003   Age: 16

OHL 5th round selection of the Owen Sound Attack, 101st overall

Christian Catalano is hoping that his stint with Brampton’s entry in the Ontario Junior Development League (OJDL) will help him as he pursues his dream to play at the highest level of hockey possible.

Catalano is using the OJDL to fine tune the skills that the Owen Sound Attack noticed in the 6-foot, 165-pound right shot centre, which led them to draft him in the fifth round, 101st overall, in this spring’s OHL Priority Selection draft.

Catalano missed the early part of the OJDL season after suffering an injury during the Brampton Admirals Ontario Junior Hockey League camp but has not disappointed since returning to the line-up.

“Christian is a dynamic hard-working player with great agility and puck-handling skills,” said Brampton Bombers Jr. B head coach Jeff Flanagan. “His ability to protect the puck in pressure situations helps provide options to take pucks to the net and create space for goal-scoring opportunities.”

The underage forward will start this season with the Brampton Bombers in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League with Admirals head coach Justin Teakle keeping a close eye on his development.

A product of the Mississauga Rebels program, Catalano has helped the Admirals OJDL squad to a 3-3 record since rejoining the roster.
