In 1995, Wheatley began play in the Great Lakes Jr.C hockey league as the Southpoint Sharks. The Sharks were renamed to the Wheatley-Southpoint Sharks in 2001, and transitioned further to the name Wheatley Sharks in 2008. In 2015 the Sharks were once again renamed to the Wheatley Omstead Sharks to recognize the Omstead contributions to the team. The Sharks have experienced many successes through the years including appearances in the League Finals on 5 occasions. While the ultimate goal remains a Schmalz Cup victory, the Sharks organization is extremely proud to celebrate it's past this upcoming season. The Sharks will kick-off 25th season celebrations at the annual golf tournament on June 8th. Stay tuned for future event details as they become available.
