Captain Braedyn Aubin of the Markham Royals (photo credit – Ryan McCullough/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Norwich University Cadets in Northfield, Vermont beginning with the 2019-20 season.

In his second season with the Royals, the 20-year-old from Woodstock amassed 29 goals and 44 assists during 54 regular season games. His 73 points was second only to linemate Alessio Luciani’s OJHL-leading 76. Aubin had 70 points in 2017-18 with Markham.

Aubin was named the Kewl OJHL North-West Conference Player-of-the-Month for February after he tallied 15 points during 10 games. His conference-leading seven goals included two on the power play and one game-winner.

Aubin played the previous two seasons with the Dryden Ice Dogs of the Superior International Jr. A loop in Northwestern Ontario. An 80-point campaign in 2016-17 earned him the SIJHL’s most-improved player award and a spot on its second all-star team.

He played minor midget for the AAA Brantford 99ers and a season of midget with the Huron Perth Lakers.

Congratulations to Braedyn and best of luck in the NCAA!

The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, had more than 135 commitments in 2017-18, including 65 NCAA Division I scholarships.
