Wimberly Dominates as Senators Take Doubleheader Nightcap

The Cal Ripken team went 2-0 at the Sunbelt Classic Prospect Tournament which was held at Wingate University in North Carolina. In game one our team defeated the Southern Collegiate baseball team 10-1. The offense was led by Fox Semones (JMU) with a 2 run homerun. Carl Gindhl (U. of Mississippi), Tyler Villaroman (U of San Francisco) and Justin Wylie (U of Arizona) each with 2 hits. Carlos Lomeli (St. Mary's College) picked up the win for the Ripken team with help from Auston Goosman (S. Alabama) and Alec Burleson (ECU) each pitching 2 scoreless innings.
In the second game of the double header, the Ripken team took on the Florida Collegiate baseball team and won 6-4. The game was scoreless going into the third inning. After that point, the Ripken offense stepped it up earning 10 hits over the last 6 innings. The Ripken team was trailing 4-2 going into the bottom of the 6th. Mitch McIntyre (BYU) hit a 2 run blast to dead center field. With the score tied, Sam Bertelson (Texas) came up in the 7th inning to give Ripken the lead for good with a 2 run homerun to center field. Hunter Brown (Wayne State) picked up the save and Carter Bach (Wake Forest) picked up the win for the Ripken team.
All 25 players did an outstanding job representing the talent of the Cal Ripken League in front over 30 plus MLB scouts. .
