MAR 01, 2019; MARKHAM, ON: The Markham Royals will begin their quest for the Buckland Cup tonight when they start their first round of the playoffs against the Georgetown Raiders at The Kingdom; scheduled for a 7:30pm puck drop .
The Raiders finished the regular season with a record of 24-24-3-4, and a big OT victory over the Pickering Panthers in the first ever OJHL Crossover game, knocking the Panthers out of the Playoffs and joined the North Division bracket. The Royals meanwhile finished their regualr season with a 29-18-2-5 record and took the first seed as the North Division Champions. The Royals enter the playoffs with a high scoring offence, lead by none other than the OJHLs regular season scoring champion, Alessio Luciani (76 points) and runner up Breadyn Aubin (73 points).
In their regular season series, the Royals went 0-2 against the Raiders, but with home ice advantage in the first round the Royals will look to reverse that score. Markham was the League's 5th best team on Home Ice during the regular season with a 17-8-0-2 record at the Kingdom.
Game 1 is set for puck drop at 7:30pm on Friday night, with Game 2 scheduled in Georgetown on Saturday night at 7:30pm. The full first round playoff schedule can be found on
