Havoc Fall Short Against Roanoke 4-3

ROANOKE, VIRGINIA – After the previous night’s loss, the Havoc looked to bounce back against the Rail Yard Dawgs on Saturday night in the final regular season meeting between the teams.

However, the song remained the same as Huntsville dropped their fourth consecutive game 4 to 3.

“We played a much better game tonight,” said Havoc Head Coach Glenn Detulleo. “Unfortunately, Roanoke took advantage of our mistakes. The margin for error is really small this time of year, so we have to do a better job limiting our mistakes.”

The Dawgs (20-16-3) kept Huntsville scoreless in the first period while putting a pair past Havoc keeper Mike DeLaVergne and took a two-goal lead in to the first intermission.

In the middle frame, the Havoc (23-14-2) flipped the script by putting up a pair of their own. The first score came when Ryan Salkeld redirected a Kyle Sharkey shot just 22 seconds in to a powerplay. Huntsville’s Tyler Piacentini tied up the game a minute and a half later and the score remained knotted at two going in to the final intermission.

It was former Havoc Zach Nieminen who spelled doom for the good guys in the third period, scoring two goals inside of five minutes for his current team to take a 4-2 lead. However, less than 30 seconds later, Sy Nutkevitch punched in a rebound goal, but the spark didn’t catch fire and the Havoc were swept by Roanoke 4-3.

The Havoc outshot Roanoke 31 to 19.

Huntsville played the Rail Yard Dawgs in only four games this season, losing three of them.

Nutkevtich and Piacentini each scored goals in both games against Roanoke this weekend.
