LIONS SPLIT LAST WEEKEND OF REGULAR SEASON, FINISH 3RD

Date:  Source: The College of New Jersey Lions

The Lions came into the weekend on a four game winning streak and looked to close out the regular season on a high note before playoffs. On Friday night TCNJ traveled to play Rutgers in their last regular season CSCHC game. They came out flying and jumped out to three goal lead off of goals from Jameson Dugan, JP Kelly and Kris Hastings. Rutgers would push back in the second and would get one back but freshman winger Anthony De Alto would answer a minute later to push the lead back to three. Rutgers would answer quickly as well when they scored off of a deflection with just under a minute left in the second. The third period would start the way the second ended and Rutgers would make it a one goal game less than a minute in and they would come close to tying the game multiple time but freshman goalie Mike Lojewski would shut the door, he finished with 24 saves. JP Kelly would ice the game in the last minute with an empty net goal. That finished TCNJ's league regular season with a 14-4 record and finished in third place in the CSCHC, only one point out of first.

Saturday night they traveled south to Sewell, NJ to take on the Rowan Profs. The Lions again would jump out to an early lead when Anthony De Alto would put home a rebound from a Dan Martin shot but the Profs would answer with three goals to end the first up 3-1. The second started the same way as Rowan would push the lead to 4-1 but the Lions would answer when Logan Viducic found Matt Lojewski with a tip-in goal, the second would finish with Rowan leading 4-2. The Lions would push back with some energy and chances but Rowan would put the game away with a late power play goal as they would take the game 5-2 to end the Lions winning streak.

That's a wrap on the regular season, the Lions will practice this week to get prepared for their quarterfinal matchup with Princeton on Friday at 9:30pm as they chase down a third straight Colonial Cup!
