Players of the Week: Jan 28 - Feb 3

Date:  Source: Florida Collegiate Summer League

Each week during the spring season, we will highlight some of the top performances of former and future Florida League players. All stats are for games played between Monday January 28 and Sunday February 3rd.

Aaron Anderson, Flagler
2018 Winter Garden

The reigning Florida League MVP didn't let five months of no baseball cool him off. After setting a league record for batting average last year, Anderson picked up six hits in twelve at bats for the Flagler Saints over the weekend. He recorded at least one hit in all three games against Barton College, starting with a 2-4, one run, two RBI performance in the season opener. In game two, he upped his totals, going 3-6 with a  double, two runs and three more RBI. In the final game of the series, he reached twice on a hit and a walk, while scoring and driving in another run.

Zach Diewert, Florida Southern
2017 Sanford

Diewert did not see action at the University of Missouri last spring, and transferred to DII power Florida Southern for the 2019 season. It is safe to say that he impressed in his debut for the Mocs. In the first game of the series against West Florida, Diewert was 4-5 with two doubles, a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. He followed that up with a 2-3 effort the next day, adding a double and an RBI. He then capped off his week with a 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB performance on Sunday. For the weekend, Diewert slashed .636/.714/1.182.

Tim Dixon, Seminole State (FL)
2018 Winter Park

Dixon was picked up at the open tryout before last summer by Winter Park, and played solid baseball for the Dawgs for the first few weeks of the season. After settling in to a starting outfield spot for the Raiders, Dixon had a big week. In four games against Eastern Florida State and Indian River, Dixon picked up six hits, with five of them going for extra bases. After starting the week slowly with a 1-8 effort, Dixon turned things up on the weekend. In each of the last two games against IRSC, Dixon scored twice, had a double, and had a home run. The only difference between the two games was that he drove in two in game one, and dove in five in game two. The Raiders are undefeated through six games, and Dixon leads the team in at bats, doubles and home runs.

Andrew Labosky, Nova Southeastern
2018 Sanford

The Sharks were only able to get two games in over the weekend, and Labosky was in top form for both. He started his season with a perfect 4-4 day at the plate against Tusculum, including a double, two runs scored and four RBI. He then added another double and run scored in a 1-3 effort against Catawba on Saturday. The former River Rat All-Star slashed .714/.750/1.000 over the weekend, and leads the team in hits and doubles.

Fausto Lopez, Pensacola State
2018-19 Seminole

Lopez recorded at least one hit and one run scored in all four games played this week against Central Alabama. He reached twice in the series opener, including a run and a steal. In game two, he upped his hit total to two, plus another walk, another run, and another steal. The next day, in game three, he was 1-4 with a 2-RBI double and also scored twice. Lopez then capped his week with a three-run bomb in game four. In all, he slashed .417/.533/.750 while scoring six times and driving in five. He played for the Scorpions last summer, and is returning for a second season with Seminole County in 2019.
