Three lacrosse administrators were elected or appointed to the Board of Directors within the Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) during the organization's annual meeting in Ottawa during the last week of November.

Tami Rayner was appointed as Athlete Director, Bryan Baxter was appointed as the Domestic Development Director and Jason Donville was re-appointed as the High Performance Director on the Board of Directors.

Current and recent national team athletes nominated individuals for the Athlete Director position, since the role acts an ombudsman for the national teams. Tami Rayner is a former Team Canada lacrosse player, playing on the U19 team in 1995, and in four Women’s Field Lacrosse World Championships. Rayner has experience coaching national and provincial lacrosse teams and is a qualified learning facilitator.

As the Domestic Development Director,  Bryan Baxter is responsible for overseeing the development of CLA coaching programs, officiating programs, grassroot programming, school programs, as well as other domestic development initiatives. Baxter has experience as the president of local lacrosse clubs, and has been coaching lacrosse since 1982.

“I am excited to welcome both Tami and Bryan to the CLA  Board,” said Joey Harris, President of the CLA’s Board of Directors. “New people bring new perspectives, skills and knowledge. I look forward to working with both of these individuals in the coming months.”

Jason Donville became the interim Director High Performance and International Relations in June 2018. He has been re-appointed to this position where he represents to the CLA at international lacrosse organizations, manages national team programs, manages the CLA’s bid process to host international events, etc. Donville has played an active role in the lacrosse community and brings with him international work experience.

“It’s a pleasure to have Jason Donville continue in his role. Throughout his time on the Board, he has demonstrated a profound energy, vast knowledge of lacrosse and business acumen that I am sure will move lacrosse forward,” said Harris.

“I would be remiss if did not thank both Steve O’Shaughnessy and Derek Graham. Both of these individuals devoted a lot of time to the CLA over the past few years. As a member of the CLA Board, they had to make decisions on some very key, tough issues within the CLA.  A heartfelt and sincere thanks to both of you.”
