Bloomington, IN-- The Indiana Hoosiers return to Frank Southern Ice Arena for the first time in 2019 against the Northern Illinois Huskies on Friday at 9:15 p.m, in game one of a weekend set.
Indiana (12-5-3), enters the weekend series against NIU (9-13), as the #14 ranked program in the ACHA's D2 Central Division. The Hoosiers most recent match-up came on Nov. 30 against Xavier University at Frank Southern, a 6-2 win for Indiana. NIU concluded the fall semesster with a 7-4 loss to DePaul University on Dec. 15.
Friday marks the first meeting for both teams since Indiana joined the Great Midwest Hockey League (GMHL) in 2014-15.
Colicchio continues record season:
Indiana forward Christian Schurmann-Colicchio leads the Hoosiers in points (38), and goals (20) through the first 20 games of the season. The 24-year-old has recorded three goals in his last six games.
Let's be Frank:
The Hoosiers through five home games at Frank Southern Ice Arena have outscored opponents 36-10. Indiana is 3-0 when scoring first at home this season.
First come first serve:
The cream and crimson are 8-2 this season when scoring first. The Hoosiers additionally have outscored opposing teams 38-19 over the first period.
El Presidente:
Indiana team president and junior netminder Cameron McNamara is among the leaders in wins, and save percentage in the nation entering Friday. The 21-year-old from Bartlett, IL. is tied for eighth in wins (6) and 17th in save percentage (92.5). McNamara also boasts a sub-two goals against average at the Frank over his last five starts in Bloomington.

Leader of the Treib:
NIU forward Nick Treiber leads the Huskies in points (41), and goals (21) through the first 21 games of NIU's season. The 23-year-old from Algonquin, IL is 2nd in the Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Conference in points and goals, and leads the MACHC in power-play goals (9), and game-winning goals (4). Treiber enters Friday's match-up with eight goals in his last five games.
Out of the dog pound:
With 136 penalty minutes this season, NIU is the least penalized team in the MACHC. At 6.18 PIM/game, the Huskies are 11 penalty minutes lower than the next closest team in the MACHC.
Mad-man Madrigal:
Senior forward David Madrigal leads the Huskies in multi-goal games (5) this season. The 22-year-old from Batavia, IL has chipped in a second best 19 goals this season, while adding seven over his last five games.
