FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ABERDEEN, SD – The Expedition League’s Hub City Hotshots today announced the release of the team’s 2019 regular season schedule. Seven of the league’s nine possible visiting teams will visit Fossum Field during the regular season, including one of the EL’s two newest teams, the Fremont (NE) Moo. The Hotshots will travel to Canada for two road series against the EL’s other new team, the Wheat City (Brandon, Manitoba) Whiskey Jacks.

The 2019 season will begin on the road as the Hotshots visit the Spearfish Sasquatch for a two-game set May 24-25, then travel to Dickinson, ND to take on the Badlands Big Sticks May 28-30. The Hotshots’ home opener will be Friday, May 31 against the Pierre Trappers, the first of a five-game home stand that features three against Pierre, followed by a two-game set hosting Spearfish.

“It’s always a great day when the season schedule is finalized,” Hotshots owner Chuck Heeman said. “We’ve known we’re playing at least 64 games but to see who we’re playing and when means we can really get to work on our entertainment for the year. We’ve got a lot of new promotions and ideas in the hopper, and now we can start working with our corporate partners to get the season set up and make it even more fun for our fans. We can’t wait to get started.”

The Hotshots’ 32-game home schedule ends July 25-28 with a four-game series against Western Nebraska. The Expedition League’s one-game divisional playoff game is set for Wednesday, August 7 and the League’s Championship Series will begin Friday, August 9. All games will be at 6:35 p.m. except for Sunday home games, which have a new starting time of 4:35 p.m.

The League’s All-Star Game and festivities will be held in Minot, home of the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs, July 15-17, with the game itself at Corbett Field the night of July 16. All EL games, including the All-Star Game and playoffs, will be available on EL TV, the League’s official live streaming outlet. All Hotshots games will be available through EL TV and more media sources to be announced. All EL TV games will be archived for viewers on the team’s new Hotshots-TV.com media site, to be launched in early spring. The Hotshots broadcast all games live over the air through the team’s broadcast partner, Hub City Radio.

PRESS RELEASE

The Hotshots will again compete for the Beef Cup, awarded to the South Dakota Expedition League team with the best regular season record. The award is presented by the South Dakota Beef Council. In 2018 the Cup was taken by the Pierre Trappers.

“We like and respect our league partners at the Trappers, but there’s no way they will win the Beef Cup this year,” Heeman said. “We nearly caught them at the end of the season last year, and with the squad Coach (Jacob) Jarreau is putting together for 2019, the Trappers will be sorely disappointed in their quest to repeat.”   Hotshots season tickets are on sale now, with weekend and General Admission season tickets available by January 15. Single-game tickets will go on sale April 15.
