Since 2008, the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League has been a platform for players from across the country to put their skills on display in hopes of playing at the next level. The HCBL further supported its mission by welcoming former major league scout Rob Kienle as its new director of scouting and analytics.

“As a longtime scout on the island, Rob has evaluated talent in the HCBL for many, many years, and that he’s familiar with our core values is important to us,” said Sandi Kruel, president of the HCBL. “His background in scouting and analytics made him a natural fit for us. We look forward to working with him to promote the league, our players, and our mission.”

Prior to joining the HCBL, Kienle served as a scout for Major League Baseball clubs, covering high school, college, minor league and independent league talent in New York and Connecticut. Kienle began as a scout for the Toronto Blue Jays, and then had stints with the New York Mets, New York Yankees, Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays.

Kienle now works as the president of Baseball Player Report, an amateur baseball scouting service that is dedicated to providing players in New York State with maximum exposure to professional and collegiate programs. With the HCBL, he will focus on the evaluation of players and serving as a liaison to area scouts and cross-checkers. Kienle will be in charge of promoting the league’s most prominent scouting opportunities – a three doubleheader day at Baseball Heaven in June, the league’s annual Scout Day, as well as its All-Star Game.

“Over the last decade, I’ve seen high-end talent come to the East End each summer,” Kienle said. “It’s been a pleasure to see the HCBL grow into one of the premier leagues regionally and nationally, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to promote the league and its players going forward.”

The Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is sanctioned by Major League Baseball and is a member of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball (NACSB). The HCBL is committed to providing free family entertainment in a small-town setting, inspiring community youth to reach for their goals, and improving community ball fields.
