TSCHL Shake Up for 2019-2020 Season

From TSCHLHockey.com:

The make-up of the Tri-State Collegiate Hockey League will look a bit different for the 2019-2020 season.  The league will feature eight teams, playing in two divisions.  Indiana University will compete within the TSCHL for the first time, while the Universities of Cincinnati and Pittsburgh will depart the league and move to ACHA DII Independent.  All eight teams will play 14 conference games to determine seeding for the conference tournament held in February 2020.

The TSCHL is proud to announce the addition of Indiana University for the 2019-2020 season.  In the latest ACHA DII Central Ranking, the Hoosiers (12-5-1-2) are ranked #14.  With its move to the TSCHL, Indiana will also move to the Southeast Region.  The consensus around the league is that the addition of Indiana will strengthen the TSCHL’s reputation as one of the premier leagues in ACHA DII.

Indiana is no unfamiliar foe to a few current TSCHL Teams.  Dayton, Louisville, and Xavier have all played the Hoosiers this season.  Indiana has swept all four of those games from the TSCHL.

Tim Driscoll, TSCHL Commissioner, explained, “The TSCHL has a goal to be the premier conference in the ACHA – so adding teams goes well beyond a geographic fit.  Teams need to run a first-class program, give emphasis to the student aspect of student-athlete and field a highly competitive team each year.  Indiana is a club that checks all those boxes.  They have a rich history that dates all the way back to 80’s in the Midwest Collegiate Hockey League – where they were a perennial power.  Currently ranked at #14 in the Central Region, this is a win-win in that the TSCHL adds a ranked team to strengthen the make up of the conference and the Hoosiers will have an opportunity to play some of the best teams in the country.”
