UNION LAKE, Mich. – (December 12, 2018) – Lindenwood University maintains its hold among the top spot in the 2018-2019 American Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Division-I Ranking, No. 10.  The Lions have capped 2018, finishing the first semester with a perfect 16-0-0 record.

The University of Michigan-Dearborn (8-0-1) retained its No. 2 spot despite losing a 3-2 overtime shootout to third-ranked Adrian College (17-1-0) at home in Dearborn, Mich.  Adrian’s Cooper McLean had a goal and an assist, as both goalies were equally impressive in net.  The Wolverines’ Thomas Proudlock had 37 saves while Adrian’s Michael Barrett turned aside 39 shots to help the Bulldogs avenge their lone loss to Michigan-Dearborn on November 20.  Dominic Moore netted the game-winner in the sixth round of the shootout.

No. 4 Ohio University moved to 12-3-3 after splitting a home conference series with University of Illinois.  The Fighting Illini took Friday’s contest with a 4-0 shutout win as Jake Barnhart stopped all 33 Bobcat shots and Robert Ernsting chipped in two goals.  Saturday night, Ohio was able to pull out a 4-3 overtime victory as Matthew Rudin scored a game-winning power-play goal for the Bobcats, his second goal of the night to go along with an assist.  Despite the loss, Barnhart was solid in goal once again for Illinois making 40 saves on the night.

Rounding out the top 5 was Liberty University (16-3-1), which jumped up two spots after sweeping University of Rhode Island in a pair of Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League conference games at the LaHaye Ice Center in Lynchburg, Va.  Ryan Cox was in on all four goals (1 goal, 3 assists) as Liberty took Friday’s contest 4-2.  On Saturday, goaltender Cole Burack got the shutout stopping all 26 shots as the Flames won 3-0.  Jacob Fricks, Joshua Bergen, and Quinn Ryan chipped in the goals for Liberty.

Moving into the polls this week is No. 25 University of Utah while Arizona State University drops out of the Top 25.

The Central States Collegiate Hockey League leads the way with all five of its member teams ranked, while the Western Collegiate Hockey League has six (of 8) of its member teams ranked, the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League has four (of 6) of its member teams ranked, and the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League has three (of 8) of its member teams ranked.

The ACHA uses two computer rankings generated by USHSHO.com, Ranking A (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 7) and Ranking B (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 1), and come up with an average of the two rankings.  The ACHA will then use the list generated from the average for its weekly ranking.  Ties will be broken using the higher ranked team from Ranking B until the Top 25 teams are listed.  All games that go to overtime will be scored as ties in the computer ranking.
