PROVO, Utah - No. 12 ranked CSUN earned perhaps the most significant win in their Division 2 history Saturday beating No. 7 Williston State 7-5.

The victory tied for the highest ranked team the Matadors have beaten since moving up in 2012. The first was against Texas A&M back in January 2014.

The game was the first meeting against the Tetons and was an exciting back-and-forth affair that featured three ties and three lead changes.

The Tetons scored the first two goals of the game from Austin Weber and Luka Znidarsic 30 seconds apart. Junior Nik Giers got CSUN in the game on the power play two minutes after Williston State's first goal at 9:29.

Senior Cameron Rorick tied the game during 4-on-4 play at 13:50 of the second period. A little over two minutes later graduate student Sean Kalbak gave CSUN their first lead. But Dalton Johnson scored back-to-back goals, the first on a 5-on-3 power play, to give the Tetons the lead back 4-3. Once again the Matadors had an answer as senior Eli Berengut scored at 2:05 to tie the game.

Freshman Christian Parks kept the momentum going in the third period scoring at 16:39 to make it 5-4. Graduate student Andre Ramirez doubled the lead at 14:57. Williston State made things very interesting 1:47 later as Kenny Garrett scored on the power play. The Tetons got another man advantage right after but the Matadors killed it off. Then CSUN scored a power play goal of their own at 9:41 to seal the game. Kalbak deflected in a Ramirez shot past Jimmy Grosklaus.

The Matadors went 2-for-5 on the power play while the Tetons went 2-for-4.

Senior Vincent Sepe earned the victory making 27 saves and improved his record to 4-1.

CSUN is now 2-1 at the Beehive Showcase while Williston State drops to 1-2.

The final game of the Showcase is Sunday morning against Arizona State at 10 AM Pacific.
