18-19 MPHL Season Awards

Tigers look to start the 2018-2019 season fresh off their 2018 MPHL Championship. Returning up front from the 2018 championship team is Oshawa Generals 8th round selection Cole Spencer, skilled forward Cameron Warren, strong 6-2 power forward Connor Childerhose, & England native Jacob Lutwyche. Third-year Ridlean Evan Johnston will bring experience up front as he looks to be a strong contributor for the Tigers. Rounding out the returning forward group is veteran Niagara native Christian Ferrante who will be a positive contributor in all areas of the ice. With graduating players, the Tigers welcome 14 new faces for this season. Newcomers include Erie Otters 2018 8th round selection Noah Sedore, Hamilton Bulldogs 9th round selection Rylee Hlusiak, & Windsor Spitfires 12th round selection Liam Scullion. Speedy forward Carter Giles joins the team from the Halton Hurricanes Minor Midget program, along with hard-working forward Ben Carter from New Lowell, Ontario. The 2018-2019 version of the Tigers will feature an international component up front with big 6-2 power forward Perttu Iso-Kuortti & rugged winger Eemeli Larste both joining the team from Finland.
The back end will feature returning Niagara Icedogs recently signed 15th round selection AJ Cook & Hamilton Bulldogs 13th round selection, Maxime Blanchard. Joining Maxime will be a familiar family connection in his brother Alexandre Blanchard who played last season with the Southern Tier Admirals Minor Midget AAA program. Niagara native, & Sudbury Wolves 12th round selection Robbie Stewart joins the Tigers continuing a long line of past Ridleans within his family. Accompanying them will be German native Oscar Sodian, along with London, Ontario native Coleman Bennett. Defenseman Max Chu joins the Tigers from San Diego, California to round out our defensive corps.
Between the pipes, returning goaltender Matti Keeley rejoins the Tigers after a strong 2017-2018 season including a shutout in the MPHL Finals. Joining him will be big 6-2 goaltender Brandon White from Brockville, Ontario. Rounding out the goaltending department is Gleb Poliakov from Paris, France who joins the Tigers as a grade 12 after playing last season in England.
Hockey Director & Head Coach Mike McCourt will be assisted this season by Assistant Coach Zack Jones in his seventh year as a part of the hockey program, Assistant Coach Josh Dubinsky in his third year as a member of the Tiger staff & Goalie Coach & Hockey Operations Coordinator Jason Barron his fifth season at Ridley. When asked about the 2018-2019 version of the Tigers Coach McCourt said, “The group has come in & is hungry to create an identity. We have a good core back that had a great playoff experience last year. Those players can look to share those experiences with our new players & show them what it takes to have success at this level. The MPHL is a premier prep hockey league in North America & is becoming more competitive each year, we are excited to be a part of it again & look forward to the challenge of the upcoming season.”
