GLANBROOK (Oct. 31) -- Connor Maitz added to his league-leading points total with two goals and an assist as the Glanbrook Rangers topped the Dunville Mudcats 7-3 in a Halloween thriller. Maitz (pictured above), now has 39 points (15 goals, 24 assists), six points up on trailer Alex Uttley of the Wellesley Applejacks. The victory was Glanbrook's 14th straight.
Matthew Rimac opened the scoring quickly for the Rangers, connecting at the 1:25 mark of the first period. Connor McQuhae (connecting in his 11th consecutive game) and Sandy Ciccarelli pushed the Rangers' lead to 3-0 after one frame. The Mudcats mounted a brief challenge in the second period as Riley Ricker and Noah Czyzewksi sandwiched goals around Lukas Van Berkel's first of the campaign, but Glanbrook held a 4-2 margin after two.
But Noah Matteson and Maitz, with two power-play markers, sealed the deal in the third for the Rangers. Ethan Garbutt's reply for Dunnville at 17:33 was too little and much to late. Rahul Bola went the distance in goal for the Rangers, making 23 saves to pick up his third win in three starts. Connor King and Keaton Kewley each contributed a pair of assists for the Rangers.
