The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Jake Trask is the Warrior Player of the Week for October 29-November 4.
Trask scored three goals, including one game-winner, added an assist and was a +3 with 11 shots on goal as the Mayhem swept the Fayetteville Marksmen on the road last weekend.
Friday night, the Saskatoon, SK native scored once with the man advantage and assisted on the eventual game-winner scored by Derek Sutliffe in the second period as Macon doubled-up the Marksmen 4-2. The following night, Trask tallied a pair of goals in leading Macon to a 4-1 win.
Having been with Macon since its inaugural season, Trask currently tops the SPHL in goals (six) and power play goals (three-tied), while his league-best four game-winners are one short of his total for the entire 2017-2018 season. Trask has also scored a goal in each of Macon’s last five games, recording three consecutive multi-point outings, in leading the Mayhem to a 5-0-1 record to begin the season.
Trask’s goal-scoring streak now leads the SPHL and his emergence has brought life to a dead power play which had dropped its first 13 opportunities to start the season. He remains the only player on the Mayhem to have scored a power play goal this season.
The Mayhem will have their next home game the following night on Saturday, November 10th to close out a home-and-home with the Ice Bears. Puck drop is set for 7:35 pm ET. The game has been labeled Faith & Family Night, and the Mayhem encourage congregations of all backgrounds and faiths to attend a night of family-friendly fun at the Macon Centreplex.
