Week Recap

This past weekend, the Huntsville Havoc was on the road for yet another away game against the Ice Flyers. The game started with a dismal first period as Huntsville allowed two Pensacola scores. However, with fresh ice and a new period, the Havoc came back from the break ready to play. Derek Perl kicked off the scoring frenzy by stealing the puck in the Ice Flyer’s zone and finding the back of the net on an unassisted goal, his first of the season. Rob Darrar tied the game four minutes later and Connor Schmidt gave Huntsville the lead for good on a powerplay. Ryan Salkeld extended the lead less than one minute later, and Schmidt picked up his second powerplay goal of the game toward the end of the second period to close out the scoring.

Vs. Pensacola

The Ice Flyers (1-4-0) lost their second game in a row to the Havoc this past weekend. The Ice Flyers have yet to win a game at home and will travel to Huntsville on Nov. 9 for a rematch.

The Havoc and Ice Flyers have put up similar shots on goal during the weekend’s game – Huntsville with 28 shots and the Ice Flyers with 27. The two teams also saw similar penalty minutes, with the Havoc at 10 minutes on 5 infractions and the Ice Flyers at 12 minutes on 6 infractions. After the Ice Flyer’s weekend loss, they are now are 9th in the SPHL standings.

By the Numbers

This weekend, Rob Darrar, who was named third star of the game, continues his three-game scoring streak after scoring another goal (4) in the second period against the Ice Flyers.

Connor Schmidt, who was named the first star of the game, picked up a pair of power play goals for himself against the Ice Flyers. Schmidt and Darrar are the leading goal scorers on the team with four goals apiece.

Nolan Kaiser, who was named second star of the game, also tallied up two points during last weekend's game after assisting on both of Schmidt’s goals. Kaiser leads the team with 4 total assists.
